An Embarrassment of Riches

It was my birthday not long ago and I was treated to a big new batch of books. They include an inspirational book, a decorating book, a cook book with stories by Edie Clark (I love her writing), and three quilting books (historical with lots of pictures)—all great ones. I love books!

The fact of the matter is that I have too many books—and fabric. After moving house a couple of times in the past ten years I made a vow—no more! When my collection(s) were all gathered up and packed in boxes, I was shocked to actually face the staggering amount of fabric I own and my extremely large library.

It all happened innocently enough—you know how it goes— one book and one small bag of fabric easily-carried into the house, in a single trip. Then came The Move. After helping pack, carry, load, unload, and unpack all of those boxes in the middle of a heat wave on our most recent move I declared myself to be on a book and fabric diet forever!

The memory of the move has served me well in the book department, but little by little all of that new and beautiful fabric in the quilt stores has seduced me back into buying. And now, my book diet is ruined too!……..Oh well, a mind is a terrible thing to waste!

Now, which one will I read tonight?

    so..which one did you read?

i, too, am on a book and fabric diet. well, i *was*. i just ordered “the quilt” book a couple of days ago and cannot wait to get my hands on it. i find that the books that i do cave in and buy anymore are the ones that have lots of antique quilts. so inspiring!

i’d love to hear your review on “quilts in a material world”. it’s another one i was eyeing up. oh..wait. i’m on a book diet, huh? ;o)

    take care!
