This week I received my 2008 Desk Calendar sponsored by The Baltimore Applique Society. Last year was their first calendar. (There are still a few of the 2007 calendars still available at drastically reduced prices.) In this year’s calendar there are some previously unpublished Baltimore Album quilts shown. Also included in the calendar are lots of detail photos of single blocks pictured with similarly made quilt blocks. It is a beauty and, in my opinion, a great gift for quilting friends. I ordered several.
I mention the calendars here because unless you are affiliated with the Baltimore Applique Society you may not know about this great resource. I believe both calendars are an invaluable asset to any quiltmaker, either as a pretty and practical weekly calendar, a decorative accessary (it would look elegant on a writing desk), or an inspirational design resource.

Autumn is advancing on us. To me, it is a beautiful yet a somewhat melancholy season. After a short show of beautiful foliage it is gone all too soon. Today that gorgeous foliage is falling, with the aid of a gentle breeze, like colored snow all through town.

okay jeana, you’re going to have to endure some whining from me…
I WANT TO APPLIQUE LIKE THAT!!!!
applique is not my strong point, but i so want it to be (or at least one of them!). i can do it and end up with some pretty good results most of the time…but i still don’t feel *comfortable* doing it. i *really* need you to sit beside me and hold my hand!
)
i may need to get this calendar…to dream.

I used to get a quilters desk calendar every year and it was great inspiration for my quiltmaking. Thanks for the reminder.
