Relaxation, and a sense of "all is well," accompanies the familiar sound of bees and humming birds at work. A
quote from Miss Read's book, Farther Afield, summarizes the way many of us feel when we hear the familiar hum
on a lazy summer afternoon:
"Near to slumber I basked in my complacency. The teapot cooled, the cat purred, and a bumblebee meandered
mumurously up and down the lavender hedge outside."
In a plentiful wreath of sweet peas and trumpet creeper, the inhabitants of this design should be well pleased
with their prospects for sweet nectar.
